AJC+ invites applications for the Germany Global Immersion Program, scheduled for December 2026 / January 2027—an immersive program bringing together city exploration, museum and architectural visits, workshops, curated walks, sketching, photography, and discussions across Leipzig, Berlin, Dessau, and Weimar.
The program is structured around visits to important cultural and architectural institutions and sites, alongside workshops and opportunities for participants to explore the cities independently. The current program schedule is as of August 14, 2026, and remains subject to minor modifications.
Program Overview
Day 1 — Arrival in Leipzig
Participants arrive in Germany, check into the hotel, and begin the program with an evening walk through Leipzig, offering an informal introduction to the city.
Day 2 — Leipzig: City, Culture, and Program Overview
The first full day includes a guided tour of Leipzig city center, followed by a visit to the Albertina Library for an introduction to the program and its details. The day continues with a visit to the permanent exhibition at the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts before participants have free time in the city.
Day 3 — Berlin
Participants travel by train from Leipzig to Berlin for visits and discussions centered around design and material culture. The day includes a visit to the Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge, followed by a curated walk and discussion at the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung. The day concludes with dinner at Saravanaa Bhavan, Potsdamer Platz.
Day 4 — Dessau
The program moves to Dessau, beginning with a visit to the Bauhaus Main Building, followed by time at the Bauhaus Café and a visit to the Bauhaus Museum Dessau before returning to Leipzig.
Weimar Workshop
Day 5 — Weimar
The Weimar component begins at the IBZ, Belvedere Allee 21, with an introduction and overview of the workshop. Participants then undertake a Bauhaus Walk, including a visit to the Gropius Room (Director’s Office), before continuing the workshop later in the day.
The evening allows participants to experience Weimar through visits to the Student Centre, Anna Amalia Bibliothek, and the historical center, alongside suggested explorations of sites including Walter Gropius’s monument to the Märzgefallenen, historical neighborhoods, Belvedere Park, Park an der Ilm, and places associated with Goethe and Schiller.
Day 6 — Workshop, Bauhaus Museum, and Individual Presentations
Following breakfast, the workshop continues at the IBZ. Participants then explore Weimar through visits including the Jakobskirche, the Bauhaus Museum, Haus Am Horn, and Roman Haus.
The workshop concludes with individual presentations showcasing participants’ outcomes before the group returns toward Weimar train station.
Day 7 — Free Choice
Participants have a free-choice day, with Dresden suggested as an optional destination, approximately 1.5 hours from Leipzig by train.
Days 8–9 — Rest Days
Two rest days are incorporated into the program, with the weekend dates to be adjusted according to the final schedule.
Final Program Day — Dessau
The concluding program day returns to Dessau for visits to the Master Houses and Siedlung Dessau–Törten, including historical sites and Hannes Meyer’s district.
Participants will also undertake outdoor sketching and double-exposure photography, followed by a discussion of the outcomes of the Weimar and Dessau workshops at the Bauhaus Café.
The program concludes with a certificate distribution ceremony at the Bauhaus Café before returning to Leipzig.
Day 11 — Departure
Participants return to India following the completion of the immersion program.
