AJC+ Germany Certified - “Architectural Writing & Design Thinking Workshops,”

When: 20th to 22nd Nov 2022

Where: The Himalayan Writing Retreat, Village Satkhol, Nainital District Uttarakhand.


The program comprises Explorations, Brain Storming sessions and Writing Tasks. An anthology will be published later, compiling the results of the retreat.

Day 1 (20th Nov 2022)

Arrive any time after 2PM, relax and take in the Beauty

Followed by Dinner Table Discussion (8:00 to 9:00 PM)


Day 2 (21st Nov 2022)

Breakfast 8:30 to 9:00 AM

“Architectural Writing” – Part 1.0

9:30 to 10:30 AM – Understanding the nature of Architectural writing and Getting started with writing your text and overcoming any potential obstacles.

10:30 AM to 11:30 AM – Defining the focus and purpose of the text.

11:30 AM to 12:30 PM – Developing adequate outlines for Introductions

12:30 PM to 1:00 PM – Q&A/Discussion in Brief

Lunch 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

2:30 PM to 3:00 PM – Discussion Continues

“Design Thinking” – Part 1.0

3:00 PM to 4:00 PM – Introduction + Impromptu Design Tasks and Groups formation.

4:00 PM to 5:00 PM –Cross Stimulation (Fractionation technique for getting ideas moving)

5:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Book Launch & Discussion –“Exploration of Architectural Journalism – an Uncharted Discipline” (Authored by Pappal Suneja)

6PM onwards – Open Mic: Present your Ideas or Text (Individual Choice)

Dinner 8:00 to 9:00 PM


Day 3 (22nd Nov 2022)

Breakfast 8:30 to 9:30 AM

“Architectural Writing” – Part 2.0

9:30 to 10:30 AM – Providing a well-organized overview of the work & recognizing the overall structural organization of your writing.

10:30 AM to 11:30 AM – Curating your findings logically and coherently into parts of a text

11:30 AM to 12:30 PM – Creating powerful abstracts and titles.

12:30 PM to 1:00 PM – Q&A/Discussion in Brief

Lunch 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM

2:30 PM to 3:00 PM – Discussion Continues

“Design Thinking” – Part 2.0

3:00 PM to 4:00 PM – Suspended Judgment (Suggestions by participants with no attempt at evaluation of ideas)

4:00 PM to 6:00 PM –The formality of the Setting (Dividing things into sub-categories and put them together in new ways)

6PM onwards – Open Mic: Present your Ideas or Text (Individual Choice)

Dinner 8:00 to 9:00 PM


Day 4 (23rd Nov 2022)

Leave unwillingly, after a yummy breakfast.

The Early Bird fee (until 17th Sep 2022) for the Retreat is 36k INR, Includes Stay and all Meals.
